$50,000 Awarded to Bay Area LGBTQ-Primary Organizations

Horizons is proud to announce ten outstanding LGBTQ-primary organizations who have received a Spring 2026 Donor Engagement Award, which supports donor engagement opportunities to build new relationships and increase a culture of LGBTQ giving in the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Apply by April 15 for the Horizons LGBTQ Scholarship

The Horizons LGBTQ Scholarship aims to invest in Oakland Unified School District graduates planning to enter higher education and who demonstrate a commitment to the LGBTQ community.

Apply by March 31 for the Markowski-Leach Scholarship

The Markowski-Leach Scholarship is awarded annually to LGBTQ post-secondary students who will be enrolled full-time at select California universities in 2026. The fund was established from the vision of Tom Markowski and Jim Leach to provide financial assistance to LGBTQ people furthering their education and making a substantial contribution to society.

Roger Doughty Announces Planned Retirement

Doughty will retire from his position late this year after more than two decades of service. He will continue to lead the organization through November 2026, working closely with Horizons' Board of Directors to support a thoughtful and seamless transition.
