2024 Election and Strategic 501(c)(4) Funding

In 2024, Horizons awarded $100,000 in grants from the Harlan See estate to promote LGBTQ people’s participation in the November elections. Five 501(c)(4) organizations working in critical states were identified to receive grants aimed at fighting voter suppression, increasing LGBTQ voter turnout, and ensuring everyone has the right to bodily autonomy, including with respect to abortion access. 501(c)(4) funding allowed Horizons to support organizations with greater latitude to impact elections and policy issues through nonpartisan activities. The work of the five organizations listed below aligns with Horizons’ values to “fight for social justice – including racial/ethnic, gender, and economic justice” through strategies that largely provide critical on-the-ground resources.
